Your Pelvic Floor In Menopause
Peri-menopause is described as the years when the transition to menopause begins. It can be a 5-10 year cycle or even longer for some.
Menopause is the one day that marks one full year without a period.
Post-menopause is the time after the full year of no menstruation.
Menopause is a major time of transition for every woman. You don’t need me to tell you that.
What most women don’t realize, though, is how this transition actually affects your pelvic floor vitality. Is your confidence being affected by sneeze pee? Lack of sexual satisfaction? A dry vagina?
It can become a painful source of shame for some women.
Fortunately, there is help...and it doesn't involve pads, drugs or surgery.
You can heal yourself.
You can regain control of your bladder and your life.
How I Can Help
First of all, I recommend every woman – especially women who have been pregnant see a pelvic floor physiotherapist. Make it a part of your annual health check.
Watch this quick video showing you what to expect in a pelvic floor physio assessment. This is a high level overview and most appointments are between 30-60 minutes. They are totally different than a PAP and you will gain a tremendous amount of information about your body.
Ok, back to how I can help...
I specifically handle the movement, posture, and exercise piece of your pelvic health puzzle with my own bag of tricks and specialized knowledge. Physios handle the internal piece, I handle the external piece and the two go hand in hand.
