Welcome to another episode of Between Two Lips. I'm your host, Kim Vopney, the vagina coach. In this week's episode, this is a quick little, hopefully, nudge, little gentle nudge to get you doing your pelvic floor muscle training, your buff muff workouts, and have you ask yourself a few questions. Maybe about your motivation, about your your why, maybe about your.
Why not? So I wanted to highlight a couple things that I hear very, very, very, very commonly from women in my community and trends that I see after helping it's over a hundred thousand women now who have purchased and gone through the buffmuff method. And what we see in our statistics is the people who come and join us, they go through the method, they do the work, they can see
a reduction or elimination of their symptoms, sometimes as early as two weeks, but generally within kind of at least a month or two. And the the results really are transformative for these people. They get their lives back. We also hear and see from people who come in, they purchase it, they do the work, they get elimination of their symptoms, and then they think they're done and they then come back, you know, several months or sometimes it's a year later.
And they say, you know, everything was great. I improved all my symptoms. I felt so awesome. And I stopped. And now I'm back again because the symptoms are back again. And then we hear from the people who or well, even we see in our statistics the analytics of people who purchase, they join, and they don't open that first video. Or maybe they open the first video, but they never take any action afterwards. And we
when following up with these people, we hear things like, you know, it I don't have any time. It's just another thing on the to-do list. I've tried other programs. I didn't think this was gonna work. I bought it in a moment of desperation. I don't really have the time to do it. I've already had surgery. I don't think it's gonna work for me. Or I've now been scheduled for surgery, so I don't quote unquote need this anymore.

I'm going on vacation. I'll start when I get back. I'm caring for an aging parent. I'll deal with this later. I'll spend time on me after. I don't have the energy. So those are some of the common things that I hear. And I my like when I go on a rant in our community calls each week, I offer a little tough love.
And I ask people to think about all of the other things, all of the other people, all of the other commitments that they show up for. That maybe sometimes they don't even really want to, but they still do. So who are they committing to? What are they committing to? And why are they not committing to themselves? Do they need an accountability partner? Do they need to carve out some more time? What when in their day could they? So just having them.
reflect a little bit on what else they have committed to and why are they making those commitments and holding those and why aren't they committing to themselves? I asked them also they came here for a reason. What is their reason? And they'll usually say because I have incontinence, because I have prolapse. That's one part of it, but what truly is the reason?
What is it that you are not doing that you want to be doing? What is it that you've given up that you would like to get back to? What is it that you maybe haven't done and you really want to do, but you're afraid to do because of your symptoms? What are your symptoms holding you back from? What is the life that you want to live? What is your why? And when people really reflect on that, that can be a great reminder of what they want. And hopefully it helps them kick start the work.

Other thing is overwhelm and sometimes that is overwhelm from online programs. We know, especially during COVID, everything was going online and that has created a lot of overwhelm. And I still have even courses that I bought that I have still got in my inbox or files somewhere that I've never started. We buy something maybe because it's a good deal, because it's on sale. We buy it thinking, I'll do this later when I have time. And sometimes that time never comes because we even we forget about it or we've moved on to something else, we get distracted.
We are all dealing with a lot of overwhelm. But sometimes that overwhelm can be reduced when we get rid of the symptoms that we're dealing with. When we get rid of this constant mental conversation around where's the bathroom? Are there bathrooms? Do I smell? Am I leaking? Will my partner see or feel? Like all of this stuff that is going on in the background when we're trying to focus and be present for other things.
It it can be exhausting. So there are people say they don't have enough energy and sometimes it's because we have s we've spent so much energy trying to plan our entire day around these symptoms that we have. And we have other things on our to-do list. I'm not saying that this needs to be the only thing on your to-do list. We have lots of things that we need to do. But when we can put ourselves first, when we are at the top of that list, it often makes all of those other things that we're paying attention to easier.
We don't have maybe the resentment that we might have. We have more focus, we're more present. So I think I'll leave with a quote that I I read today in an email message from Dr. Stacey Sims, who I adore. She is a fan of the Buff Muff method and recommends it to people, which I'm very thankful for. But in her email, one of one section said
Looking after ourselves isn't something we get to once everything else is done. It's what allows us to keep showing up for the people and the work we care about. So I'll leave you with that. And for those of you that have maybe joined the Buff Muff Method and not taken action, what is holding you back? What is your why? What do you want your life to be like?
Kim Vopni (06:48.046)
For those of you that have maybe not come and joined us in the Buffmuff community, what is holding you back? And just have some reflection on what you want your life to look like in the next six months, in the next year. But also what do you want for your 50-year-old self, 60, 70, 80, 90-year-old self? I'm 55.
This year I have watched one of my parents move into long term care. Both of my parents are the same age. One is still very able bodied, very active, the other is needing full time care.
That really hammered home to me all the things that I do and why I do them. It's for my my father's 81. It's for my 81-year-old self, my 95-year-old self, maybe even my hundred-year-old self. I want to live independently. I'm not interested in suffering. I want healthy bones and muscles. I want joy.
I want confidence, I want freedom, I want to travel, I want to participate in fitness, I want to be able to walk for miles and miles and miles in the outdoors. I want a lot. And wanting those things and putting yourself first is not selfish.
It allows us, as Dr. Stim Sims said, to show up for the people that we want, who want us, for the people we love, for the people who love us, for the things we do, for the things we want to do, for our work. It allows us to be fully present. So this is just a quick little reminder, a little rant of the importance of pelvic floor health. A couple of the pillars would be to see a pelvic floor physical therapist.

At least once a year for the rest of your life, even if you have no symptoms. If you are close to or beyond menopause, use vaginal estrogen typically twice a week, but your doctor will prescribe that for the dose appropriate for you. And that is something you'll use for the rest of your life. Pelvic floor muscle training. Initially I have people do it every day for about a month.
And after that, once you've gotten into the habit, once you've retrained the pelvic floor, you can coordinate it into your resistance training. Ideally, you're doing two to three resistance training workouts every single week for your bones and for your muscles. Poop well, drink enough water, take out the bladder irritants, optimize your posture, sleep well, nourish yourself with adequate protein and nutrients.
But at the end of the day, you need to put yourself first. You need to be at the top of your list, and that will make everything else fall into place and everything else more enjoyable and will ensure that you have the confidence and freedom and joy that you deserve. rate and review it, pass it along to a friend who maybe needs to hear a little bit of this tough love as well. Prioritizing your pelvic health unlocks the possibility of everything else. Some people are afraid of of those things. They're afraid of exercising, afraid of moving, afraid of lifting, afraid of jumping. But those are all things that help support our overall health. And a sedentary lifestyle is a risk factor for pelvic floor dysfunction as well as osteoporosis.
Cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, many other diseases of aging. So put yourself first. Please share this with a friend. Thank you so much for joining me here. We'll see you in the next episode.
